Meet the Executive Board
Lily Cross,
President
Lily Cross is a Senior, majoring in Journalism with a minor in Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Lily designs as Social Media Assistant for ComArtSci's Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. To develop her portfolio, she offers freelance design and content services. Cross studied Visual Storytelling studies in Nairobi, Kenya. After Graduating May 2023, she is pursuing a creative career in digital design and content creation.
Janelle James, Vice President
Janelle James is a Senior, double majoring in Journalism and Political Science with a minor is Spanish. James has worked at the Detroit Free Press, The State News, HOMTV, and Martin Waymire.
Denver Williams, Secretary
Denver Williams is a Junior, studying Journalism with minors in Organizational Leadership and Professional Writing. She is currently a digital content intern for FOX 2 News Detroit, and the Communications and Social Media Manager for the Michigan Oral Health Coalition. Denver's favorite achievement was winning 1st place for the creative writing awards hosted by the Department of English at MSU.
Jada Vasser, Treasurer
Jada Vasser is a Sophomore, majoring in Journalism with a concentration Writing, Reporting, and Editing and a minor in Documentary production. Vasser serves as Treasurer and will be the MSU ABJ President for the 2023-2024 school year. One of her favorite accomplishments is getting accepted into The New York Times Corps program in July 2022.
Marcayla Armstrong, Fundraising
Marcayla Armstrong is a Senior, majoring in Journalism with a concentration in Media Relations and a minor in Spanish. Her creative involvement spread across student organizations such as VIM and N(OW) CROWD Magazines. She specializes in photography and has extensive modeling experience for photoshoots and runway.
Kennedy Robinson, Community Service
Kennedy Robinson is a Senior majoring in Journalism with a concentration in Media Relations and a minor in Public Relations. Robinson's favorite accomplishments thus far in her position has been being able to volunteer at a local after school program and assist the students there with their various activities. She has held several journalistic internships that involved writing and reporting on student government matters while being able to uphold a 3.8 GPA here at MSU.
Brandon Foster,
Social Media
Brandon Foster is a Junior, majoring in Communications with a minor in Public Relations. He is the Michigan Assistant District Director for Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated, as well as the ASMSU Representative for the MSU NPHC. He is on the Communication Team for MSU Black Alumni. He currently works at the ComArtSci office as the Student Dean Assistant. Foster was awarded Spartan Volunteer Award for over 115 hours of community service.
Jaden Hawkins, Membership Outreach
Jaden Hawkins is studying Journalism with a broadcast concentration. She is a part of MSU's Honors College and plans to add to her studies with a minor in Public Relations. She enjoys community service and participating in her campus organizations. For the 2022-2023 academic year, she serves as the Membership Outreach Chair for MSU’s NABJ Chapter and a communications intern for MSU DPPS. Outside of school, she plays tennis and enjoys hanging out with friends and family. She hopes to pursue a career in broadcast as a TV News Anchor.
